Fallout 4 is in first person by default but players can choose to play in third person if that’s more to their liking. The camera is situated right over the player’s shoulder and, to some, uncomfortably close. Too close to take advantage of a wider field of view. Luckily, there’s a way to adjust this so you can play a bit more comfortably.
Simply hold down the button responsible for changing views (Touchpad on PS4, Menu on Xbox One) and use the right thumbstick to adjust the distance between your player in the camera. You can go from the default over the shoulder cam to being able to view your created character’s entire body in one frame. Now you can really see everything.
You can even use this same button combo while in the Pip-Boy menu to twist your arm around so you can give the device a closer look.
And ta-da, you now have a much broader view.
Bethesda has announced at E3 2015 that first person and third person gameplay will return in Fallout 4. Rome mod mount and blade.
Fallout 4 has a similar style of gameplay as Fallout 3. There is still the targeting system from the third game that allows you to target specific body parts.
Changing from first or third person has always been great, and it’s cool that Fallout 4 still features it. There aren’t too many games out there that allow you to go both ways.
You will also have a dog companion in Fallout 4. You can tell him what to do and guide them along. There will be sure to be lots of other great things you can discover in the game too.
Is there a way I can inspect my character's face at any point in the game after creating it during the bathroom scene?
I am playing on PlayStation 4 and rotating with the right stick in 3rd-person view obviously does not show the face. I haven't found any mirrors or shiny objects to use the reflection either.
The reason for this is that I forgot what she looks like and also I want to share my monstrous creation with others but I have already left the vault!
If rotating the camera does not suit your needs, you can get a close-up of your character's face by visiting a barber or plastic surgeon. I don't have a comprehensive list of their locations on hand, but I do know there is a plastic surgeon in Diamond City.
I've heard that Codsworth can give you a haircut as well, but I have not confirmed this.

If you put your weapon away (long press of the reload button), then rotating the right stick in 3rd person will be in freelook mode.
If you switch to third-person view you can see your character.
If you put your weapon away, you can rotate the view around your character, to see their face.
If you hold down the perspective switch button, you can use the right stick to zoom in and out while rotating the view. Note that this creates problems when you're in a workshop area, as holding down the button will open up the workshop interface. If you've remapped your buttons, you may run into a bug where one of them doesn't work properly when you come out of the workshop interface. Pressing the switch-perspective button twice has fixed this for me, but the exact button may depend on how you've remapped your controller.

When you think about what you want to change in a game, the field of view isn’t necessarily the first thing that pops into your mind. However, there are some benefits to adjusting your FOV in Fallout 4. One Steam user has posted a detailed guide explaining how to do so for PC.
1) Go to your Fallout 4 folder (DocumentsMyGamesFallout4 unless you’ve modified any folder names).
2) Open Fallout4.ini
3) Under [Display] write:
fDefaultWorldFOV=X
fDefault1stPersonFOV=X
4) Whatever number you put for X is the FOV size. 90 seems to be adequate, but feel free to use any number.
5) Go to Fallout4Prefs.ini in the Fallout 4 folder.
6) Repeat step 3; Under [Display] write:
fDefaultWorldFOV=X
fDefault1stPersonFOV=X
7) Again, X will be the same FOV size you wrote above.
8) Go to the folder where you installed Steam.
9) Open steamappscommonFallout 4Fallout4 (you want the Fallout4 folder within the Fallout 4 folder)
